We bought Dream
On in Fort Lauderdale in 2003.
Dream On is a Beneteau
Oceanis 430, built in France for a private owner in 1989.
Dream On had
already sailed the Atlantic from the Mediterranean to Florida early in her
life and nine years later set off from San Francisco to make a 4 year
circumnavigation around the world, ending up in Florida. She was very well fitted out
before leaving San Francisco in 1998 and then went through another major
refit in Australia in 2000.
Blue water cruising is described
as “Carrying out continuous boat maintenance in tropical locations.” We
can now confirm this is true!
We had two great seasons onboard Dream
On and enjoyed her tremendously. She was a great first boat. However, when
we were preparing her for our third season, after our return to boating
from 18 months in Dubai, things changed.
While we were preparing for another
season and well into provisioning, Geoff awoke one fine morning and said
"Let's buy a catamaran," So plan B was now in place. Instead of preparing
for cruising, it was preparing for sale. A whole new set of priorities.
We sailed Dream On from Brunswick to
Annapolis in June 2008 and she sold in September of that year.
Dream On is now cruising under the new
name "Cool Change" and we wish her and her new owners smooth sailing.
