| Dreaming On
Equipment
Having been built specifically for a coastal charter fleet,
Dreaming On had very little in the way of real offshore equipment.
When we flew to Belize to take delivery, we carried a new
12" Chart Plotter, Navigation System Network Switch, AIS, (Automatic
Identification System), Sirius Satellite Weather Receiver, Single Side Band
Radio Receiver, Graphic Nav Display for the nav table, EPIRB, hand held VHF,
hand held GPS.
In Rio Dulce we modified the helm station to take the
larger chart plotter which involved making a new fibreglass profile, and
installed the above equipment. It was impossible to
carry a Radar system to Belize, but the AIS turned out to be magic. The
Yucatan Channel is busy with large commercial traffic and we could see it
all up to 20 miles away and know where it was heading and what danger it
represented. Since returning to Fort Lauderdale,
with engine change and installations, then re-installations after the
lightning strike, we have, as at January 2010 equipped Dreaming On with the
following: |

voltage. |
