Having
been delayed in the Virgin Islands while our engine issues were resolved,
the inevitable happened; we met some great people and found some beautiful
places.
Many of the people we met are chartering their boats and
enjoying it. So, taking into account the costs we incurred in fixing the
engines, we decided on yet another lifestyle change and will try chartering.
No easy task as there are many hoops to jump through. Signed up with a
clearing house who will manage the bookings and the money so we are
protected and also provide us with work permits.
The pressure is on as there's a major charter boat show
here in November and we and the boat must be ready.
Geoff is taking his Caribbean Boatmaster's License and
we've both done the required First Aid, Safety and Firefighting courses. (We
could now work on a cruise liner!).
There is a tremendous amount to do to prepare for the show
including a boat survey by the VI Shipping Registry, so we will be very busy
until the show is over.
